She has spent fifteen years in education servicing traditionally underserved students from Houston, Atlanta, and Washington, D.C.  She graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in Elementary Education and served as a 3rd, 4th, and Kindergarten teacher in Houston and Atlanta before joining the New Leaders for New Schools program in Washington D.C.  She served as a turnaround principal for four years in an elementary school in Southeast D.C.  She spent five years founding KIPP WAYS Primary in Atlanta, Georgia before transitioning to this role at the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement. She resides in Mableton, Georgia with her daughter.
