Michael earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Georgia in 1993. He began his career in software/database development as a co-op student first at Berry College in 1989 and continued this experience at UGA. Michael worked as a software engineer in multiple industries including Telecommunication, Textiles, Medical, Financial, Education, and Apparel. He first worked for the State of Georgia in ITS for the University System of Georgia Board of Regents (2005 - 2011) as a data warehouse developer and then continued his government employment with the Technical College System of Georgia (2011-2015) as that agency’s team lead for the Race to the Top/GA*AWARDS project.  After this, he gained invaluable experience as a data architect in the sports apparel industry (2015-2020).

 

Michael is a native of Wilkes County, Georgia and has been married to his wife, Denise, since 1997. They have three children: two UGA seniors and a high school senior.
