Prior to joining GOSA, Marcia served as a Social Studies and ELA teacher in Atlanta Public Schools, then data coach and principal in Fulton County at a middle school with the Focus school designation. Marcia holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Spelman College, and graduate degrees from the University of Phoenix in Curriculum and Instruction and Walden University in Administrator Leadership for Teaching and Learning. She resides in Douglasville, Georgia with her husband and daughter.
