Today the Governor's Office of Student Achievement released the Connections for Classrooms Grant Program Annual Report. Connections for Classrooms (CFC) is a competitive grant program joining multiple state agencies around the common goal of ensuring Georgia schools and classrooms have the high-speed broadband access required for digital and blended learning. Over the past two years, the program combined more than $65 million from the following two sources:

  • Bond funds appropriated to the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE)
  • State general funds appropriated to the OneGeorgia Authority at the Department of Community Affairs (DCA). The Governor’s Office of Student Achievement (GOSA) manages the funds.

The program is part of a broader statewide effort to expand classroom high-speed broadband access in response to Governor Deal’s Digital Learning Task Force recommendations as well as the state's efforts to enable personalized learning for Georgia students.

The annual report, available below, outlines the need for state-level network investment in Georgia schools, summarizes grant activities in all three grant rounds, and describes what network needs remain in schools around the state.

In mid-January, Connections for Classrooms will announce Round 3 grant awards to local education agencies (LEAs) around the state.
