Digital Learning Task Force
On April 30, 2012, Gov. Nathan Deal signed an executive order creating a task force to implement digital learning in Georgia’s K-12 schools.
Consisting of a broad cross-section of education stakeholders in the state, the task force met eight times and from November 2012 to December 2013 to examine the current state of digital learning in Georgia and develop recommendations. The meetings included presentations from national, state, and district digital learning experts as well as tours of locations in the state having success implementing digital learning.
The task force released its final report on December 18, 2013. The report includes 12 recommendations, divided into the following three areas:
- Infrastructure
- Digital Content and Courses
- Blended and Competency-Based Learning
Gov. Deal will review the recommendations with key stakeholders to determine next steps.
