Today, the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement released the Fiscal Year (FY) 2015 Innovation Fund Planning Grant Report. In FY15, the Innovation Fund awarded its first round of ten planning grants to nine organizations. In alignment with the planning grant mission, recipients spent one year developing various aspects of an innovative program. This report provides an overview of the planning grant program and summarizes the outcomes for the following FY15 planning grantees: (1) Clarke County School District, (2) Georgia State University, (3) Jackson County Schools, (4) Mercer University, (5) Morehouse University, (6) Oconee River Georgia Youth Science and Technology Center, (7) Paulding County Schools, and (8) Tift County Schools. Each profile includes the program overview, program goals, actions steps taken over the grant period, and next steps following the grant period.

The Innovation Fund invests in public education entities that aggressively develop and scale programs that enable Georgia educators to improve student performance and tackle our state’s most significant education challenges. Since its inception, the Innovation Fund has invested more than $33 million of state and federal funding through 115 grants to 92 school districts, traditional public schools, charter schools, postsecondary institutions and nonprofit organizations to pilot innovative education programs, ranging in focus from teacher and leader induction and development to STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) applied learning, blended learning and birth-to-age-eight language and literacy development.  Click here to learn more about the Innovation Fund.
