GOSA and Innovation Fund Foundation Announce Community Partnership Grant Award to the Chief Turnaround Office
The Governor’s Office of Student Achievement (GOSA), in partnership with the Innovation Fund Foundation (IFF), today announced a Community Partnership Grant award to the Chief Turnaround Office (CTO).
The Community Partnership Grant is a competitive grant program that provides funding to local education agencies (LEAs)/school districts, traditional public or charter schools, and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations to improve student outcomes by leveraging community partnerships. Funding for Community Partnership Grants is made available by the IFF through donations from the Qualified Education Donation Tax Credit, pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 48-7-29.21. The Qualified Education Donation Tax Credit allows individuals and corporations to donate to the IFF and receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit (not just a deduction) on their state income taxes, subject to availability. The IFF is authorized to receive up to $5 million through this tax credit on a first come, first-served basis.
The CTO’s funded program, Innovation Network, aligns with the IFF’s coordinated community services priority area. This $70,930 grant will support the CTO’s Coordinated Student Health & Wellness Strategy. This award is in addition to the $252,500 grant GOSA provided the CTO in June 2018 to develop evidence-based district turnaround professional learning opportunities. The CTO will evaluate each program’s effectiveness and submit its findings to GOSA and the IFF. The state will use these findings to showcase best practices.
