Georgia Promise Scholarship (SB233)
The Georgia Education Savings Authority (GESA) hosts the Georgia Promise Scholarship Program, created by Senate Bill 233. GESA seeks to provide eligible students with the opportunity to use public funds for non-public education expenses in grades kindergarten through 12th grade. Senate Bill 233 requires the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement (GOSA) to
calculate
the list of schools performing in the lowest 25 percent of all public schools based on the cumulative individual school ratings for the two most recent years. GOSA calculates the school ratings as
Single
Scores
, which are based on the Georgia Department of Education’s calculated College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) component scores. The list of eligible schools in 2025 is based on the average of Single Scores from 2023 and 2024, and the list of eligible schools in 2026 will be based on the average of Single Scores from 2024 and 2025.
