Statewide Evaluation - Archived

In August 2010, the US Department of Education selected Georgia as a second round winner for the Race to the Top (RT3) grant.  RT3 was a $4 billion federal fund through the US Department of Education that provided competitive grants to states to improve education outcomes. Georgia was awarded $400 million over four years to implement a robust statewide education reform strategy.

GOSA was charged with developing the statewide evaluation plan for the RT3 grant, which ended June 30, 2015.

The Race to the Top Statewide Evaluation focuses on three goals:

Statewide Evaluation Goal 1: Measure how well RT3 projects prepare GA students for college and career success

Statewide Evaluation Goal 2: Measure how well the Lowest Achieving Schools were “turned around”

Statewide Evaluation Goal 3: Measure how well the RT3 projects created great teachers and leaders

The evaluation includes the monitoring and analysis of progress in the following projects:

  • Innovation Fund
  • Common Core Georgia Performance Standards Rollout & Implementation
  • Lowest-Achieving Schools
  • UTeach
  • Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Computing (CEISMC)
  • Teach for America
  • The New Teacher Project
  • Communities in Schools-Georgia Professional Learning Communities
Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education Race to the Top Summative Report

In December 2014, the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education (GPEE) released its summative evaluation report, Race to the Top: Georgia's Vision for Educational Excellence. Commissioned by the Race to the Top Implementation Office at the Georgia Department of Education, the report aims to answer the question, "When it's all over, what will we have to show for it?"
