Turnaround Eligible Schools List

Overview

In accordance with O.C.G.A. § 20-14-45, the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement calculates an annual Turnaround Eligible Schools list. Identified schools have a three-year average College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) score that is in the bottom five percent of the state, excluding non-traditional schools and state special schools. This list replaces the chronically failing schools list that GOSA published in prior years.

As outlined in House Bill 338 last spring, the state’s Chief Turnaround Officer will identify schools for intervention from the Turnaround Eligible Schools list in the coming months.

The 2017 list includes all schools with a three-year CCRPI average below 54.0. It has 104 schools from 27 districts, which consist of 66 elementary schools, 28 middle schools, and 7 high schools.

Business Rule Notes

The CCRPI Single Score is used to determine the three-year average for all schools. The list does not take into account school closures and mergers effective for the 2017-2018 school year. Schools denoted with an asterisk involved a school merger, closure, or split in the past three years that is taken into account through GOSA’s Policy on School Code Changes. As a result, prior year CCRPI scores for these schools in this year may not match their previously posted scores. Non-traditional school and state special schools are defined in the document below.
