Demographics ≠ Destiny

The Governor's Office of Student Achievement (GOSA), in conjunction with Georgia Public Broadcasting, developed The Demographics ≠ Destiny video series to highlight consistently high-performing, as determined by the College and Career Readiness Performance Index, Georgia public schools that demonstrate excellent student outcomes despite challenging student demographics. The videos featured schools across multiple geographic regions of the state and grade levels (elementary school, middle school, and high school). The selected schools agreed to act as virtual learning laboratories for educators and community members to assist others in identifying and implementing effective strategies and best practices in their own schools. The video series provided parent, teacher, school and district staff, and principal commentary on several areas that are critical to school success. The resource provided examples of specific strategies that contributed to each featured school’s successful outcomes and are categorized by the following topics.
